Have a Look Around

Join us for a Walk Around the City (3)

Map

Slide Landscape We will now go down the stairs to the Friedrichsplatz in order to take a closer look at Landschaft im Dia.
Enjoy the view across the dome of the Orangery (7.) before we draw in more closely to the building.

Orangerie The Orangery constitutes the heart of the Karlsaue Park (8.) and contains the compact Museum for Astronomy and Physics complete with planetarium. We would like to introduce you briefly to some exhibits from here, too.

Technikmuseum Here we are on the first floor, the historical centre of the museum. In addition to the astronomical experimental clocks we can see here made by the court clockmaker Jost Bürgi there are also valuable celestial globes, armillary spheres and astrolabes dating back to the 16th century. We can also see the astronomical instruments invented for Europe’s first modern observatory in 1560. Landgrave Wilhelm IV (known as “The Wise One”) had them installed on the terrace of Kassel’s former castle.
