documenta Exhibition Halls
Adjacent to the Staatstheater
During the documenta 11 the documenta exhibition halls also played a central role. 650,000 visitors came to view and reflect on exhibits dealing predominantly with media art and installations with political themes.
During the documenta 12 the documenta-Halle was transformed into a publicly accessible space for collectively engaging in educational work, documentation and presentation. The approximately 100 magazines participating in the network have been presented in the upper storey of the Halle, including many forms of media which are difficult, or even impossible, to obtain outside their individual local distribution areas. In addition, around 140 of the collaborating editors were guests in Kassel and in the documenta-Halle during the 100 days of the exhibition.
The next documenta exhibition, documenta 13, will take place between June 9th and September 16th 2012.
In addition, the exhibition hall designed and built by the architects Jourdan and Müller for the DOCUMENTA IX will house temporary exhibitions as well as various other kinds of different events.
